The University of Rochester is a private, nonsectarian university located in Rochester, New York. It was founded in 1850 as a Baptist-sponsored institution and currently has about 9,300 students of which 4,600 are undergraduates. It is known as a top-tier research university, especially in the field of optics.
Campus Life
The number of liberal student groups outnumbers the conservative groups on campus by 10 to seven.
The seven conservative student groups on campus are Students for Life, Students for Liberty, Students for Victory, Rochester Gun Club, SIMON Graduate Entrepreneurs, the College Republicans, and Young Americans for Liberty. The italicized groups are affiliated with CampusReform.org's Campus Leadership Program, which provides students with advice, assistance, and many kinds of support.
